Investigation of Similarity of Performance of the Equations of State Available in CFTurbo For $$H_2$$, $$N_2$$, $$Ο_2$$, $$CH_4$$, $$CO_2$$, and Air
Authors: , ,
Abstract: In this publication, a qualitative study is conducted to investigate how different equations of state perform for different gases at different temperatures and pressures. Perfect Gas, Redlich-Kwong, Aungier/Redlich-Kwong, Soave/Redlich-Kwong, Peng-Robinson, and Cool Prop are used to calculate the properties of $$H_2$$, $$N_2$$, $$Ο_2$$, $$CH_4$$, $$CO_2$$, and air at a reduced temperature between 1.89 and 6.04 and reduced pressure between 0.027 and 6.661. Initially, we delved into the existing literature to locate experimental data for the specified gases. Due to a lack of experimental data, Cool Prop calculations are used as a reference due to its high accuracy (error ≤ 1%). Then, the performance of each equation for each gas is estimated. Finally, the similarity of the accuracy of each equation independently of the gas is estimated and general rules of their performance are indicated.
