Title of the Special Issue: Mathematical Structures for Sustainable and Interdisciplinary Applications

Aim:
The aim of this Special Issue of WSEAS Transactions on Mathematics is to provide an international forum for high-quality research that advances mathematical structures, theories, and methodologies with direct relevance to sustainability and interdisciplinary problem-solving. In an era marked by complex global challenges—ranging from climate change and energy transition to resilient infrastructure, healthcare systems, and digital transformation—mathematics serves as a unifying language that enables rigorous modeling, analysis, optimization, and decision-making across disciplines. This Special Issue seeks original research articles that develop or apply mathematical structures such as algebraic systems, differential equations, stochastic processes, fuzzy and rough sets, graph theory, optimization frameworks, and computational mathematics to address real-world problems rooted in sustainable development. Emphasis is placed on contributions that bridge pure and applied mathematics, integrate data-driven and AI-assisted methods with analytical models, and demonstrate measurable societal, environmental, or economic impact. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among mathematicians, engineers, computer scientists, economists, and sustainability researchers, this Special Issue aims to highlight innovative mathematical tools that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote long-term resilience and efficiency in complex systems. The collected works will not only enrich the theoretical foundations of mathematics but also showcase its transformative role in developing sustainable, scalable, and interdisciplinary solutions for contemporary and future challenges.
