The development of secure and dependable communication and sensor networks is a major objective for both civilian and military systems. There are two types of threat that are considered in this proposal: The first type is the cyberthreat, based on cyberattacks and software based approaches. One of the thrusts of this effort is to advance the use of statistical methodology to model cyberattacks by viewing them as abrupt changes in traffic patterns. Such approaches have been effective, but there is a need to advance the state of the art, making them more sophisticated and flexible to respond to changing cyberthreat forms.
