Aim:
In recent times, there is a growing focus on the monitoring, control, and prevention of land, artifacts, and cultural heritage, particularly in response to the evident territorial and environmental changes caused by climate change. The impact of climate change, such as rising sea levels, increased frequency and intensity of natural disasters, and changing weather patterns, poses significant threats to land, infrastructures, and cultural sites. As a result, there is an increased recognition of the importance of implementing effective monitoring systems and preventive measures to safeguard and preserve the land, artifacts, and cultural heritage. This involves employing advanced technologies and methodologies that can provide accurate and real-time data on the condition and changes occurring in these areas. The proposed Special Issue would explore the different Geomatics/Soft Computing Techniques and Methodologies used for Environment and Cultural Heritage Monitoring and Climate Change Analysis and Prevention.

Topics:
The topics of this Special Issue mainly concern the Geomatics and soft computing methodologies and techniques for the monitoring, control and prevention of the territory, of the artefacts and of the cultural heritage in response to climate change, even by forecasting possibile scenarios: - Photogrammetry (UAV): Photogrammetry, when combined with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), plays a crucial role in capturing high-resolution imagery and generating accurate 3D models of the land, artifacts, and cultural heritage sites. It allows for detailed documentation, monitoring, and analysis of changes over time. - GIS/WebGIS/App: Geographic Information Systems (GIS), related technologies such as WebGIS and mobile applications (Apps) provide powerful tools for managing and analyzing geospatial data. They enable the integration of various data sources, including imagery, topographic maps, and cultural heritage inventories, facilitating effective monitoring, control, and decision-making processes. - Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS): GNSS technologies, including GPS, play a vital role in positioning and tracking assets in the field. They can accurately monitor the location and movement of artifacts, land features, and cultural heritage sites, enabling better control and protection activities. - Building Information Modeling (BIM): BIM technology offers a comprehensive approach to the management and visualization of building and infrastructure projects. In the context of land, artifacts, and cultural heritage, BIM can support the digital documentation, preservation, and restoration of historical structures, as well as the integration of climate change considerations into the planning and design process. - Remote Sensing: Remote sensing technologies, such as satellite imagery and airborne sensors, provide valuable data for monitoring and assessing changes in land use, environmental conditions, and cultural heritage sites. Remote sensing allows for the identification of vulnerabilities and potential risks associated with climate change impacts, aiding in proactive monitoring and prevention efforts. - Forecasting Platforms: Forecasting platforms equipped with climate models and data analytics techniques can help predict future environmental changes and their potential impacts on land, artifacts, and cultural heritage. These platforms enable researchers and decision-makers to develop adaptive strategies, preventive measures, and resilience plans to mitigate risks and preserve cultural heritage. - Neural Networks/Soft Computing: Neural networks and soft computing techniques offer powerful tools for data analysis, pattern recognition, and predictive modeling. These techniques can be applied to various aspects of monitoring, control, and prevention efforts, such as identifying anomalies, assessing vulnerability, and developing intelligent decision-support systems.
