Abstract: This work studies models and algorithms used by Internet search engines to evaluate the relevance of
search results and display them in order of importance. These methods are rooted in linear algebra and can be
interpreted in terms of graph theory. This text presents the foundational ideas, key theorems, and an iterative
algorithm for assigning two types of scores (content and link) to web pages. We also discuss the conditions under
which the algorithm converges and is ”well-posed.” Finally, we present an improved variant of the approach that
takes into account higher-order connections between pages.
