What Needs to be Done to Raise Public awareness about
the Impact of Climate Change?
Author:
Abstract: One of the main areas of increasing the effectiveness of adaptation is raising public awareness about natural hazards, their possible impacts on various population activities, and preventive actions that need to be taken before, in the moment, and after hazards. The population receives storm warning but does not effectively use them to their advantage due to a lack of understanding of possible impacts and a lack of systematized recommendations. It is necessary to teach the population to adapt to climate change. It is almost impossible for the population to determine the impacts of climate change on humans and the environment. Manual and even automated processes for identifying natural hazards do not allow a full assessment of impacts and mitigation of the consequences of climate change. To do this, it is necessary to collect and store impacts and recommendations in the form of a knowledge base. The author has collected, formalized, and classified types of impacts and recommendations for decision-making for 100 extreme and natural hazards. Demonstration services for issuing information on impacts and recommendations have been implemented.
