Opportunities for Cultural Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development on the Island of Imbros

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the possibilities and prospects of cultural entrepreneurship in Imbros. Imbros, with its unique cultural heritage, offers opportunities for the development of cultural entrepreneurship, leveraging traditional professions and music and dance traditions through tourist experiences and festivals. The religious monuments linked with Byzantine and ancient heritage present valuable opportunities to develop educational programs, to attract academic researchers, and to develop cultural events and exhibitions which focus on local history and art. Results exhibit the high cultural event participation but moderate cultural entrepreneurship, aligning with other works focusing on different islands, such as Sifnos and Syros. Finally, the findings highlight the need for innovative engagement and funding strategies, in order to build a sustainable cultural environment.
