Abstract: This article critically examines the dominant paradigm of bioeconomics, arguing that its technocratic, linear, and growth-oriented rationale reflects the epistemological limitations of Western thought. Adopting a transdisciplinary approach that integrates political ecology, complexity science, philosophy of science, environmental justice, and decolonial perspectives, it shows how hegemonic bioeconomics reproduces extractivist dynamics, instrumentalizes nature, and marginalizes alternative knowledge systems, particularly in Latin America. In response, the study proposes reconfiguring bioeconomics as a theoretical and methodological framework oriented toward the systemic regeneration of life, integrating ecological, social, cultural, and symbolic dimensions. Grounded in thermodynamics and complexity, it conceptualizes sustainability as a contextual, regenerative, and community-based process, and introduces a systemic formalization approach to model dynamic interactions within a regenerative bioeconomic system from a Latin American perspective.
